The V&A has produced a new app to coincide with its major Spring exhibition- The Cult of Beauty: The Aesthetic Movement 1860–1900.
The Cult of Beauty app will include a walking tour through Chelsea (voiced by Rupert Everett) that explores the lives of the artists who lived and worked there and an audio gallery guide within the exhibition itself, written by 19th-century design expert Charlotte Gere, that will provide an introduction to 25 masterpieces within the exhibition.
App users can watch an interview with exhibition curator Stephen Calloway and extras include more information about the influential women of the time.
The app has been created in partnership with Toura and will be available across platforms and priced at £2.99.
It is part of a dedicated push by the publisher to get involved in the digital space and V&A also has plans for digital versions of titles on designers Christian Dior, Elsa Schiaparelli, Barbara Hulanicki, Paul Poiret and Mary Quant. The publisher has already produced three other exhibition and collection apps: Medieval and Renaissance Galleries Guide, Quilts 1700-2010 and Tipu's iTiger.
