University of Warwick launches Writers app
The University of Warwick has launched a new app which shares "the creative secrets of world-class authors" for would-be writers.
The ‘Writers’ iPhone app provides access to more than 200 rare recordings of over 150 authors and poets discussing their work and creative process, from the 1970s to the present day as well as hints and writing tips for budding novelists. The Writers app has been developed by the in-house Web Development Team at the University and the developers are currently planning an Android version. It is available to download free-of-charge from the iTunes store.
Professor David Morley, national teaching fellow from the University of Warwick’s Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies, said: “This new app allows millions of people across the globe to download Warwick at its most creative, serious and playful. It includes historically important readings and interviews hosted by the Warwick Writing Programme with writers including Umberto Eco, Germaine Greer and Allen Ginsberg, and Nobel Prize winners such as Doris Lessing, Mario Vargas Llosa and Derek Walcott.”
Morley, who also directs The Warwick Writing Programme added that part of the reason for the success of the WWP is "...the way it reaches out beyond the university in the belief that all writing, at its best, is creative - and creative writing, at its best, is global and inclusive,”
